1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the independent publisher of this website (the "Publisher," "we," "us") handles information in connection with this site. It applies to this site only, and not to any third-party website, business, school, or association referenced or linked here, each of which has its own practices.
This site is a general-audience editorial publication. It is not directed to children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information, tell us through the inquiry form and we will delete it.
2. Information we collect
We deliberately collect as little as possible. There is exactly one place on this site where you can submit information: the private inquiry form.
- Information you provide: the name, preferred reply method, and message text you type into the inquiry form, plus the page path you submitted from.
- Consent record: your cookie choice, stored locally in your browser so the banner does not reappear.
- Technical and log data: standard server and platform logs such as IP address, user agent, referring page, request time, and error diagnostics, generated automatically to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and keep it secure.
- Optional analytics: aggregate, non-identifying page-view counts if you accepted analytics storage.
We do not collect Social Security numbers, government identifiers, financial-account numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, or health information, and you should never submit them through the inquiry form.
We do not knowingly collect or process sensitive personal information as that term is defined by state privacy laws.
3. How we use information
Information is used only for these purposes:
- To read, respond to, and administer the inquiry you sent.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve the site.
- To detect, prevent, and investigate spam, abuse, and unlawful activity.
- To comply with law and to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not build advertising profiles.
4. We do not sell or share your information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in state privacy laws. We do not rent, trade, or transfer inquiry contents to data brokers, marketing lists, or advertisers.
Inquiry contents are read only by the Publisher and the individual responsible for responding, and are used only to respond to you.
5. Service providers who process data for us
We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers who process data strictly on our instructions and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes:
- A managed cloud application and database platform that hosts the site and stores inquiry submissions.
- A content-delivery and edge-hosting network that serves the pages you request and maintains standard access logs.
- Mapping and embedded resources you may choose to open, which are governed by their own providers' privacy policies once you interact with them.
Data is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed there.
6. Retention
Inquiry submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of the conversation, and in any event no longer than twenty-four months, unless a longer period is required to resolve a dispute, enforce our agreements, or comply with law. Server and security logs are retained on the short rolling schedule set by our infrastructure providers. Aggregate analytics counts contain no identifiers and may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to confirm whether we process information about you, to access or receive a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we do none of these), and to be free from discrimination for exercising a right.
To exercise any right, send a request through the private inquiry form describing what you want. Because we collect so little, we typically identify a request by matching the name and reply method you originally submitted; we may ask a follow-up question to verify the request before acting on it. We respond within the period required by applicable law, generally forty-five days, and we may extend where the law allows. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits.
European and United Kingdom residents may also object to or restrict processing and may lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority. Our legal bases are our legitimate interest in operating an editorial site and responding to inquiries, your consent for optional analytics storage, and compliance with legal obligations.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and inquiry submissions are stored in a managed database with access controls limited to the Publisher. We apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the very limited data we hold.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not send confidential, privileged, or sensitive information through the form.
9. Do Not Track, cookies, and third-party content
There is no consistent industry standard for Do Not Track signals; because we run no advertising or cross-site tracking, our behavior does not change based on such signals. Where required, we honor recognized universal opt-out preference signals as an opt-out of sale or sharing, which we do not engage in regardless.
Storage used by this site is described in the Cookie Policy, where you can also change your choice at any time. Embedded third-party content, such as a map, may set its own storage once you interact with it; that storage is governed by the provider's policy, not ours.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Material changes take effect when posted with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If any provision of this document is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
