One name, three places
Search “Morrocroft” in Charlotte and three distinct places appear: Morrocroft Estates, Morrocroft Village, and Morrocroft Farms. The confusion is understandable — all three take their name from the same source, the Morrocroft farm assembled by Governor Cameron Morrison in the 1920s on what was then countryside well south of the city.
Morrocroft Village is the mixed-use portion: offices, service retail, dining, and residential addresses arranged along Morrocroft Lane near Sharon Road, serving the daily needs of the surrounding SouthPark neighborhoods. It is not gated, not a homeowners association, and not part of Morrocroft Estates.
Why the distinction matters to buyers
Listings, tax records, and third-party portals sometimes blur the three names, which can make a property look like it sits inside the gate when it does not — or the reverse. Verify the subdivision name on the deed and the homeowners association obligation before making assumptions about security, dues, or covenants. The shared history
Cameron Morrison, North Carolina’s governor from 1921 to 1925, built Morrocroft as a working estate and country house.
